Awn privacy policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026
Awn is a free app from Nashr that blocks the apps and websites you choose. This policy explains what Awn does with your data. In short: Awn collects nothing, and everything it keeps stays on your phone.
What Awn collects
Nothing. Awn has no internet permission, so it cannot send anything anywhere. There is no account or sign-in, no server, no analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking and no ads.
None of your data reaches Nashr or anyone else. Awn never sells or shares it by itself; a backup file goes only where you send it (see Backups).
What Awn keeps on your phone
To work, Awn keeps a small database in the app's private storage on your phone: your rules and the apps and websites they cover; changes waiting for the next day reset; how many minutes you spent in each app and on each website and how often you opened it each day (every app and website you use, not only the ones in your rules, so the weekly report can show them); when something was blocked; the notes you write on the block screen (your journal); and your settings, such as the day reset hour.
Other apps can't read this data, and it never leaves your phone unless you save or share a backup yourself (see Backups). Awn turns off Android's own backup and phone-to-phone transfer for it, so it is not copied to a cloud account or a new phone.
Accessibility service
Awn uses Android's accessibility service only to block what you chose. It reads which app is open and, in supported browsers, the address of the website on screen. Where needed it also reads the text of the window on screen: to find a website address (also in apps that open web pages inside themselves, while you have a website rule) or to recognise a screen Awn is set to block. It compares what it reads with your rules on the phone and shows the block screen when a rule says so.
It does not collect what you type, your messages, your passwords or anything else on the screen, and nothing it sees leaves your phone. Only the minutes, opens and block times described above are stored.
Backups
A backup is a file Awn makes only when you ask for one, and you decide where it goes: you save it on your phone or share it with an app you pick, such as email or a cloud drive. From then on that app's own privacy policy applies to the copy. A backup holds your rules, pending changes, settings and journal notes. Awn never sends one anywhere by itself.
Deleting your data
Uninstall Awn to delete everything it keeps on your phone. To keep the app but start again, open your phone's Settings → Apps → Awn → Storage → Clear storage. Backup files you saved or shared are not deleted this way; delete them where you put them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new text comes with an app update and the date above changes.
